Yup, that’s right; I used fabric from JoAnns!

There was an upcoming Civil War Reenactment in my area.  I needed a work dress. I was at JoAnns.  I made a purchase!

Looking back, I wish I had chosen a larger checked fabric.  From a distance, the dress looks, well to be honest, like mush!  It’s not that bad, but let’s just say, it’s not my favorite creation! But in reality, it works for a work dress!

Here’s the details:

I decided to try something new with the darts. I’m not sure if it’s period correct, but I liked the idea of several curved darts!IMG_8101IMG_8102IMG_8104IMG_8109

After wearing the dress a couple times, I decided I needed some contrast on the bodice! I decided on some clearanced trim which was purchased when Hancock Fabrics was going out of business!

  1. It’s gorgeous! I’m sad because my local Jo-Ann’s has rid itself of its homespun fabrics and anything that may resemble the Civil War era. And I can’t bring myself to buy fabric online either, so I guess it’s back to driving an hour for good fabric. Anyway, I just love your dress! 🙂
